Membership Eligibility Information

Roanoke Valley CU is a community credit union serving Roanoke City, Roanoke County (including Vinton), Botetourt County, and the City of Salem.  Anyone who lives, works, attends school, or worships in these areas is eligible to join RVCU.

If you are an immediate relative or permanent household member of an existing Roanoke Valley CU member, you are also eligible to join.  An immediate relative is defined as spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, or grandchild. A household member is someone living in the same residence and participating in maintenance of the household (the household is being maintained as a single economic unit). Fraternity, sorority, or apartment/condominium complexes do not fall under the household definition.

The offer of membership also extends to all business and legal entities within our chartered community area.

Joining is as simple as depositing $5.00 into your RVCU Savings Account. This is your "share" in the credit union. Your share makes you a member/owner and gives you the right to vote for your volunteer Board of Directors. This money will stay in your RVCU Savings Account as long as you are a member. As a member you will have access to all of our valuable products and services, designed to save you time and money.

Want to join but can't make it to the lobby? Use our printable Membership Application.

RVCU's Community Charter was granted by the National Credit Union Administration on February 7, 2002.  RVCU is excited to bring the opportunity of credit union membership to everyone in the Roanoke Valley.
